Appointments

Hackbridge Medical Centre offers various types of appointments in an attempt to maximise patient access and choice:

  • Routine Appointments
All appointments with a doctor or nurse can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance either via the app, over the telephone or in person. The surgery telephone lines are open Monday to Friday from 08:00 - 18:30.
  • Book on the Day Appointments
Some slots are not opened until the start of each day to enable patients who need an urgent appointment to be seen on the day.
  • Telephone Appointments
Each doctor has some routine telephone appointment's daily. These can be pre-booked by patients who request a telephone appointment rather than a face-to-face appointment.
  • On-line Bookings
Patients can call the surgery to book appointments but now a significant proportion of routine appointments can be booked on-line.
  • Extended hours in surgery
Access has increased outside normal working hours with early morning and late evening appointments available each week. Appointments are available from 7.30am-8am and 6.30pm-8.30pm on allocated days. (information available from Reception)
  • Home Visits
  • Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the appropriate equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:00.
  • You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to attend the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

  • Double Appointments
Double appointments of 20 minutes duration are allowed in exceptional circumstances, for example, for a learning disability health check, complex diabetic or mental health reviews, postnatal baby checks and employment medicals. These are often booked at the end of a surgery in case more time is required. Patients with visual and hearing impairments and non-English speaking patients who require an interpreter, are also allocated a double appointment.
  • Specialist Appointments
The practice runs a number of specialist clinic's which patients can be referred to internally. These include Clinical Physiotherapist, Clinical Pharmacist, Mental Health Worker, Social Prescriber and Health coach.
